Father

We are shaped by those around us. In my life there is no one man who has influenced me more for the good than this man. He truly is deserving of the title ‘father.’ Where would I be without him? I don’t even want to contemplate such a question. It’s impossible to quantify his impact on my life so I’ll just mention that which has to do with this picture. He introduced me to photography as he hauled the family up to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone nearly every year of my childhood. Behind his seat sat (and still sits) a Tamrac bag protecting a Nikon N2000 (an F5 today) loaded with slide film (still shooting it), various lenses and filters were packed in the slots and pouches around it, a tripod slid through the external straps. It was a glorious sight! With his camera at the ready he introduced me to the great outdoors (and not just the National Parks) as well as that ever excellent life on the road.
