Paradise and the Thanksgiving Dinner of Our Faith | Sermon

Paradise and the Thanksgiving Dinner of Our Faith (Luke 23:43 & Colossians 1:13)

Luke serves up the meat of our faith, the turkey stuffed full of deliciousness – the crucifixion of Jesus – a huge bird cooked to perfection, seasoned ever so flawlessly, the scent of its golden brown goodness meandering through the room, everyone’s mouth watering as they await the meal prepared for them with love… Paul comes into the dining room with the perfect side dish – mashed potatoes covered in giblet gravy – a master chef putting together a complementary portion that’s actually made from the innards of the divinely prepared bird itself, the heart of the turkey truly flavoring the food that excites our palate.

I preached this sermon at Christ Lutheran Church in Murray, Utah on November 20, 2016, the Last Sunday of the Church Year.
