The Open-Mindedness of Christianity | Sermon

I preached this sermon at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Chester, CA. and First Lutheran Church in Greenville, CA. on May 17, 2015 (The Observation of The Ascension of Our Lord – Three Year Series, B).

What do the words (and actions in the case of Timothy Leary) of Frank Zappa, Hunter S. Thompson, and Immanuel Kant have in common? They were all equally hijacked by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ in this sermon. Want consciousness expansion, enlightenment, a mind like a properly functioning parachute? It only comes through the Holy Spirit working through God’s Word in and with the Sacraments as He creates faith in your heart.

A New Etsy Shop

I’ve set up an Etsy shop to make the LEGO version of Kramer Chapel available to anyone who wants one as a custom LEGO kit. There’s a whole crowd of Lutherans who, like me, dig Concordia Theological Seminary and have fond memories of time spent in and around Kramer Chapel: pastors, deaconesses, students (of all stripes), prospective students, pastor’s kids who spent part of their childhood bouncing around campus while dad studied for the ministry, faculty and staff (and their families), and all of the LCMS members who give of their time, talents, and treasure to keep the doors open and who value the solid pastors and deaconesses who are formed at CTS and in Kramer Chapel.

If you’re interested in purchasing your own Kramer Chapel, or if you know someone who is, head over to my Etsy shop, Now That I Am Fifty, and find out how simple it is to buy this 397 piece church architecture kit.

While you’re there, visit the About page (or just click the link) to read what’s behind the name of my shop.
